Did You Know?????????????????
  •  It is estimated for every 1 adult missing, there are at least 2 secondary victims that must receive treatment and/or assistance.
  • We are the only national agency to provide victim assistance programs and support services for family members, loved ones, concerned friends, co-workers and employees, referred to as secondary victims of missing persons cases.  The trauma the sufferer incurs from the uncertainty of the potential loss and the unknown outcome of the incident is extreme.  Secondary victims desperately need support and resources to assist them when handling all the aspects associated with a missing person.
  • Based on the figures provided by NCIC on the number of missing adults reported for the year 2007, it can be estimated that there were approximately 426,700 secondary victims directly impacted throughout the United States.
  • As of January 1, 2008, there were 105,229 active missing person records in NCIC.
  • Juveniles under the age of 18 accounted for 54,648 (51.93%) of the records, and 12,362 (11.75%) were for juveniles between the ages of 18 and 20.
  • These are the most up-to-date statistics available for the United States.
  • Every year since 1991, between 1.5 and 2.3 million people have been claimed as missing in the United States.
